It's funny, I have all these VHS tapes too. They were complete crap from a quality stand point.
Even as a kid I was disappointed. Half the time they were fuzzy and the other half of the time you couldn't hear what was being said.
Are yours better? I think it was a generational loss by making copies from copies from copies from copies...... etc.
