Not sure if this has been posted already or not. Chris is normally pretty quick at posting these. Also not sure of the validity of the story but it's pretty interesting.

Would buy IF
it had engines
it didn't look like it was about to sink
had even a remotely attractive shape
I actually had room for a 57 foot yacht...
They've been trying to sell this thing for years. I hope they do sell it, but it's gonna be hard to find someone with room for a 57 foot project yacht...

Agree, unfortunately the cost of transportation would be as much as buying the boat. It would definitely (how'd you like that spelling Accipiter) be a cool story though. Drive up to the lake/ocean in your Delorean and get on John Delorean's old boat. Obviously the name of the boat would be DMC-12 or maybe Living The Dream!

The very phrase "project boat" gives me nightmares.
What little I know about boats can be summed up in two points
1. They are a huge money pit, and
2. They are a huge money pit.
Technically that's just one point, but it's so important it's worth mentioning twice.
And that's starting off with a good one. Restoring this one would make a Delorean resto look like pocket change.

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

You forgot that the more the boat is in the water, the faster the cash is out of your wallet.
There are a few boats that I love; vintage wooden ones, for example, and I have a 1956 Aero-Craft with a matching Mercury Mark 30 Turbo-4 outboard. Every time I go to use it, despite storing it properly, there's always a few hundred dollars of expenses just to get it water-worthy. I keep it more out of sentimental attachment, as that was the first vehicle I purchased and I have a lot of good memories with that boat; that being said, I would never buy another boat again in my life.
