    Door key lock replacement

    Hello,

We're working on assembling the door on #701. We got new key locks for the one-key system, but it turned out that the car's early style locks are larger in diameter than the late style locks. The method of securing them is different as well. Is there a kit available to install late locks in early doors, or is it another do-it-yourself type fabrication job?

    Thanks,

    Gabor

You just have to file slots in the door skin to allow the late locks to fit, then you clip them in place. After you remove the old locks you will want to re-blend the stainless around the hole to hide the mark left by the old larger lock. DMCH will rent you a jig that clips into place to make filing the slots easy. http://store.delorean.com/p-10533-do...-jig-tool.aspx

Get some very fine diamond coated needle files.
