    Question Exhaust shield brackets missing

A previous owner of 5316 apparently chose to remove the muffler exhaust shield from the car completely, including the brackets. Every place I find that sells these brackets, has them as part of the muffler bracket, and wants a core returned.

This leaves me with two questions: First do the heat shield brackets simply bolt on to the muffler brackets such that I could easily replace them? Second, are they available for purchase without a core to return?

The heat shield and muffler brackets are all one. The 2 main muffler brackets on the bottom support both the muffler and the heat shield.

Spoke with Josh this morning, so now at least I know what I'm dealing with. The bracket for the shield is spot-welded to the muffler bracket and probably came loose or fell off at some point in the past 30 years. I just have to get back to the car tonight to see what else I'm missing before I start ordering parts.

I maintain a Google Plus page with status updates & photos under the name "Delorean 5316":

Here's a direct link to some early exterior shots, as I found it:

The guy I bought it from had to touch up the front fascia and matched it to a Corvette blue. For the purists out there, all I can say is, I didn't paint it!

Blog looks nice. How's the paint holding up? The car is looking good (blue isn't my favorite but I like your 'license to play' thinking). One thing I noticed on there though - those fuses that light up when blown aren't something most of us are big fans of. Looks like you have lots of plans, have fun!

There are a lot of bubbles in the paint, so I'm not too happy with it, but there are only a couple of places where it's worn off. Mostly over the door handles.

Do the lighted fuzes cause problems, or do you just get tired of your fuze box lighting up like a christmas tree?
