    Billet Aluminum Crankshaft Pulley

    Hi all,

I posted this on my other thread, http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?14...-Pulley/page12 but I might as well start a new thread just for this!!
I am done on the design for the Crankshaft pulley, ready to get a couple done!

I have the 2 timing marks there, exactly where the original ones are!!

Angle view, Side view, and Back view!

I am curious on the timing marks and how it works? Never done it or even seen anyone do it.

From what I can see the 2 timing marks on the stock pulley are identical in size from what I can see, correct??

PLEASE let me know if anything else should be done or corrected! ON my end everything is correct, size, shape, timing marks!

I was going to make one of these with a CNC lathe but wasn't cost effective withe the material. If youbcan do it for a cheaper price I am interested in one. One thing to note is that you need a ss sleeve to put on the back to prevent any wear issues. I beleive Rob Grady sells them, or he used to.

What price you had in mind? I just saw on DMCH, a stock one goes for $282.45 Wow!!!!

What is the S/S sleeve for? Haven't heard off anything like that. Is there a picture of it or something?

Is this the sleeve you were talking about?? http://store.delorean.com/p-7751-sle...nk-pulley.aspx

Whats the point of it? My crank pulley, was dirtly worn out shape, but the back part of it was still good, in almost new condition!

The sleeve is to prevent wear on the pulley itself from the front main seal. Without it, the pulley could become grooved and the seal would no longer function. I dont think it was sleeved from the factory though, but rather a commonplace addition to your pulley when replacing the seal because it had become grooved.

The sleeve (made by Speedi-sleeves and available from rswww.com) is required because steel has a much lower wear rate than aluminium, and the front main seal will eat a groove in it ten times faster than the original steel pulley

    The original pulley is steel.

FWIW I've noticed that the aluminum water pump pulleys wear over time from the V-belt, something I've never seen with a steel pulley or a serpentine belt. This is probably an 80-thousand-mile problem, but something to think about.
