The red and blue camo ones I had weren't like that but I do remember a very badly damaged foam jet just like when I was younger.

Sorry for hijacking here...
But...this worked so well for you maybe I can try to find my vintage toy memory that I cannot seem to locate anywhere online. I had a book as a kid. It was a children's book. It was a book about racing/race cars, etc. The cars were hand-drawn, and I would describe them as kind of boxy looking, almost futuristic looking for the time period. I'm guessing this book was printed in the 1980's since that is when I grew up. If I saw the cover I'd be sure of it...I can picture it in my head. I have done countless google searches, and I cannot find anything. Ebay, Amazon, etc. I even had my mom dig through her attic and no luck. I have a young son now and I'd really like to share this book with him. Where do I even start?
Yes, that's the toy, but I had the "poor kid" version, no ramp, just a little piece of plastic with a rubber band on it.
I think I might know what you are looking for as I had the same kind of book which sparked my interest in drawing cars, and the one car that sparked my love for the DeLorean before it was even born. It was a whole series of books called "World of Tomorrow". There was one dealing about war and weapons, one on medicine, one on the home of tomorrow, and one of the books was called "Transport on Earth" There is actually a picture of a car that heavily resembles a DeLorean as well as some other very cool looking "boxy" "wedgy" cars.
Is this it?

This took a LOOOOONNNGGGG time!
Found it...bought it...resisting the urge to open it up and play with it!
The little bits are what's left of the rubber band!
Long time is an understatement! Congrats on scoring it.
