    Front Wheel Dust Shield

The left front wheel assembly has a dust shield, the right does not. I figured my PO might have left the right one off, but the workshop and parts manuals only specify this for the left side.

What is the reasoning for it being on the left side (e.g. more exposed to elements from middle of road?), and would this therefore mean I should swap it to the right side given we drive on the opposite side of the road here in Australia...

They are not the same, i.e. they won't swap from side to side (without some surgery). There is supposed to be one on each side.

Thanks Dave! Odd, there was a page somewhere it specified "LH only" for the dust shield which is what I happened to have - but that listing definitely has both. Cheers for the quick response will have to get the other one then!

How important are the dust shields? Just curious. I know that Martin's upgraded brake kit deletes the front dust shields.

Oh bugger - after reading your post I blindly imported over 100264 whilst getting a few other things, but upon receiving it have just realised you were talking about a different dust shield than I was

This is the LH dust shield I was curious about being on only one side:

This is the part you mentioned that I've accidentally imported:

105104 (your first link) is part of the speedometer system and links the angle drive to the wheel hub. That is only supposed to be on the driver's side.
