    UK Exhaust

A few weeks ago, the UK exhaust was finally installed on my Delorean. It took one whole day, from approx 8 am until 10 pm with a couple breaks in between.

    Arrival:

    Before:

Only 1 out of 12 possible studs broke removing the old manifolds, and almost all the bolts broke removing the cat and crossover pipe.

    After:

I recieved a tremendous amount of help from Sean Lowe (Serenity screen name) and Josh Q (DeloreanJoshQ screen name) during the removal/installation. Also, they provided cameras since I forgot mine, thanks for that!

The best way I can describe the results is to say it's more throat-y and european. At idle, the noise level difference is very minimal. At highway speeds or crusing, the cabin noise is also a very minimal change. You can really hear the differece during accelleration, as well as feel a little more HP. It also looks very nice. I would reccomend this exuast if you're in the market.

Looks great! If you did it a second time how long do you think it would take? Did you guys run into some issues? 14 hours seems pretty long even with some breaks.

    UK Exhaust

    Hi Jeremy,

The UK exhaust looks great. The picture where you have the stock exhaust on the floor along with the UK ... is the UK muffler smaller than the stock one or is that an optical illusion? That is what I've been looking for ... how long did it take to get it? ... cost? ... weight difference?

One of the people helping install has already installed this exhaust on his car. So even though he has done it before, it still took roughly a full day. I'd say we took at least 2+ hours worth of breaks. We had a few complications also. #1 the old rubber bushings on the muffler were seized onto the muffler and we needed to re-use them. A blowtorch finally was able to break them free. #2 I installed all the studs into the head, but had problems aligning the new headers onto all 12 studs at the same time. Problem was that some of my original studs were bent. #3 We had trouble removing the cross over pipe, which eventually resulted in removing the drivers side drive shaft.

Yes, the UK muffler is smaller in width. I think there is also an optical illusion at play making the difference seem bigger. I didn't measure, but if you notice the hangars for the muffler brackets - the new muffler has a longer extension in order to reach. One thing I really like about this exhaust is the fact that it uses the original brackets.

After making a deposit, the exhaust was complete in approx 2.5 weeks. Then final payment was made and it took approx 3 weeks to arrive from overseas.

I debated posting cost, but what the hell:
$1400 exhaust & shipping - Keep in mind that will fluxuate with the exchange rate.
    $90 bank transfer fees
    $80 SS hardware, studs, gaskets

    $1570 total

Sorry, but I do not know the weight differences.

I haven't done any adjustments as of yet. The car seems to not have noticed!

I do love the way that system looks. I don't like the ones where you see the mufflers hang down on each side.

Yeah - it can be a lot cleaner if you are not worried about the legalities of catalytic converters.

There's no need to richen the fuel after installing this system.

Also like Jeremy said we ran into a lot of little different problems and took several breaks and worked on other peoples cars. I think your going to get a variants on how long it takes to remove a system due to different car conditions. It took me about the same time to do it by myself but I didn't run into any of the problems as Jeremy mentioned previously. I love the UK system and its a great improvement from the old set up.

Obviously a thinly veiled reference to my own exhaust.... (Which I hasten to point out only cost 1/10th of the amount cited above -- not all owners have a spare $1,500 burning a hole in their pockets).

    Not necessarily.
