Planning on mostly "local" driven miles, not long distance, cross-country miles

    Hey John,

The DeLorean Limo will be driven around, but not driven to the long distance
car shows like DCS West (Vegas is 2200 miles one way) or to DCS 2012 next
year, which is 1200 miles one way, including many miles in the mountains.

Sure, after everything is done and there is a significant shake-down period,
I may decide to drive it to some of the more local shows, but I do not plan
to drive it for either 2400 miles or 4400 miles, just to attend a DCS Event.

I never say never, but as I said, I am not planning to drive it cross-country.

    Later,
    Rich W.

Side Comment: The U.S. is a little more "spread out" than the U.K.

getting much sleep lately and no time for projects (or even the forum).

By the way, my mom is my biggest fan of the DeLorean Limo project.

I do plan on getting the exterior of the D Limo mostly done by mid August,
in time to display at Woodward, but the work schedule is on hold, for now.

If all goes well, the exterior will be mostly done and the D Limo will be loaded
into my custom 30ft enclosed transport trailer by Aug. 18, to make the trip.

I have a custom 3.0L PRV that may or may not be installed for this debut,
but either way, the D Limo will be "display only" this year (not cruizing yet).

This would be awesome to see at Woodward!

Made some progress this weekend, but it may not be
enough to finish up on Thursday (Aug. 18th), in time
to be transported and displayed at Woodward.

I may need to go with Plan B, which is to have the
D Rex and my 32ft open trailer ready for transport
by Thursday evening, which will still be a huge job
to get done on Thursday...if I can get it done then.

Either way, it will be a very busy week.

32ft Enclosed (project) Trailer acquired on Thursday, Aug. 18

Well, with plenty of confusion over parking my truck, trailer and D Rex on Friday
before the Woodward Cruise, the decision was made to leave the big boy home.

The other task on Thursday, Aug. 18, that took up a majority of my day, was
to pick up a project trailer that may be used as the future enclosed trailer for
the DeLorean Limousine (or for two stock sized DeLoreans) or if I do some major
modifications to the roof section, I could fit a stock DeLorean and the D Rex too.

The trailer was damaged on the driver side and a significant part of the roof, so
there is plenty of re-building work to do (but like the 30ft, the price was right).
I re-painted over scratches on the driver side and it looks OK from 50ft away,
so I may hold off on the driver side replacement panels for a while.

However, the roof work must be done by later this Fall and I will need to decide
if I want to "raise" the rear roof section by a foot or two (like Sprint car trailers)
to park the D Rex inside (as is), but I will most likely leave the roof stock height
and make the necessary repairs, and use transport tires to park the D Rex inside.

Although the trailer does not have a ramp door, I plan to use my fiberglass 14ft
ramps to load and unload the D Limo or stock sized DeLoreans or a set of steel
ramps to load and unload the D Rex (with smaller transport tires, inside trailer).
The trailer has two 7,000 lb. axles, so that should be plenty of load capacity.

Attaching a couple photos of the 32ft enclosed trailer picked up last Thursday.

Chris N. photos...starting work on the DeLorean Limo, back in April 2006

While looking for some other DeLorean related photos earlier this week,
I came across some photos of Chris N. doing some prep work for me on
the DeLorean Limo back in April 2006, just before the DCS 2006 event.

    Chris-N-D-Limo-041706-01.JPG

    Chris-N-D-Limo-041706-02.jpg

Yes, this was back when I was still considering the rear facing center
section (and doors), but at this time, Chris was repairing the damaged
SS panels and getting a "feel" for the custom SS that would be needed.

This has been a very long project (for a very long car, lol), but the huge
progress in the past few years has been outstanding (in fact, amazing)
and I cannot thank Chris enough for all the effort over the past 5 years.

Even Chris N. had to take photos, to make sure he was not dreaming it,
the whole time he was here working on it. Yes, the whole rolling chassis
was in a 28ft long tent, while working on it through the Winter 05/06.

Chris N. photo...working on the DeLorean Limo, back in November 2010

While looking through my photo archive for more Visioneering Car photos
this week, I came across this photo of Chris N. from last Fall, trying to
stay warm (just after an Ice Storm), while working on the D Limo project.

    Chris-N-D-Limo-112410-01.JPG

Yes, Chris will be the first to admit that he has gotten a little more gray
(stainless shavings?) than he was back in the 2006 photos, but he also
has another five years experience, doing all sorts of stainless steel work.

Adding a few DeLorean Limo Profile photos

Again, while browsing through my photo archive, I came across these two
photos of the DeLorean Limo (from above) from late last Summer (2010).

    D-Limo-Doors-Closed.jpg

    D-Limo-Doors-Open.jpg

I often display these two photos together on my computer (or iPhone) so
that when you switch between photos, the doors open and doors close.

I figure if there is someone out there with extra time on their hands and the
knowledge of how to make an animated avatar of the DeLorean Limo, this
would be a good pair of photos to start with. If it turns out well, maybe I
will take extra photos, opening one door at a time (and use a tripod).

Door Seals being installed ... one door at a time (times 6)

A rather long time between progress updates, but another big round of detail work progress
was made last week, with the current status of the D Limo exterior now at about 75%-80%
completed. Again, this round was more detail work (like door seals and custom panel seals)
so you may need to compare new photos with the previous photos, to see some progress.

Attaching a photo of the early portion of the door seal installs (driver door almost done) and
the driver's side center door outer seal being tested with the door closed.

    Door-Seals-being-installed.jpg

Note: most of the hardware for the front fascia is also replaced, in advance of a new fascia.

More progress photos from last week, to be posted soon.

    Rich W.

I'm guessing you may be in the market for one of the new power steering kits?
