DeLorean Limousine - The Pods - Pre-Assembly Photos

As many of you know, the DeLorean Limousine is a very long term project
utilizing as many damaged DeLorean cars and parts as possible and the
actual collecting of the main parts occurred between 2000 and 2005.

As I go through my archives of photos, I will post a few of them here and
include a few details about the photos and the cars and parts themselves.
Another key item in successfully assembling the D Limo was the 36ft trailer.

The trailer was acquired in 2004, just prior to DCS 2004 and it was widened
to a full 8ft wide, to be able to transport the D Rex and GT40 Rock Crawler
(through the mountains) to and from DCS 2004 in Pigeon Forge, TN.

The photos show the storage condition of the three underbody "pods" just
before I did the transport to the fiberglass fabrication shop. Note the 4x4
transport truck in the background and filling up all 6 of the trailer tires.

Yes, the trailer was stored for a few years out at a farm in Crystal Lake,
near Dave Swingle's Monster Garage (and house). And Yes, you can see
the Hovercraft in one of the photos as well, to the right of D Limo parts.

Some of the first parts for the DeLorean Limousine

Attaching a couple photos of the first set of "big" parts that I acquired
for the DeLorean Limo project, way back on October 18, 2000.

The photos are of three partial underbodies that were stored outside
behind an old DeLorean dealership for many years (Shepard Chevrolet).

Thanks to my Uncle Jerry (helped pick up the pods) and my Uncle Rich
who stored the pods out at his farm, in an old dairy barn. (mooooo)

All these underbodies were part of the initial concept build (layout)
and some parts of them will be used in other custom DeLorean projects.

Did the under-bodies still have the VIN tags attached?

Two more partial underbodies - ready for projects

Ryan...one or more may have had VIN plates. You may be able to see VIN plates
in the photos that Tamir took while the underbodies were still at the dealership.
The 3 pods are in the Very Sad DeLoreans section of Tamir's EnterMyWorld website.
(Note: these were the pods sitting in the "weeds")

The two pod sections in the photo below both have door VIN plates attached.

The one pod with the doors was a badly burned (rear section melted) underbody
and this one was eventually re-purposed for two projects. Most melted parts
were removed (cut-off) and the middle portion was used to support the fiberglass
panels on my BTTF Prop Car. The front was used to build Ron Wester's D trailer.

Rear View of the Burned Pod

Attached a couple photos of the rear view of the burned pod mentioned previously.

You can see the extensive melting of the fiberglass section(s) of the pontoon.

These doors were also damaged by the heat of the fire, but I believe these are
the doors that were modified and re-purposed, and are currently installed on the
DeLorean Roadster project. The heat from the fire warped the roof sections and
the B-pillar areas of the doors shown on the pod in these photos above and below.

If there is ever someone in the DMC community that tries to utilize any and all pieces of SAD D's, it's Rich. Can't wait to see the progress on this limo while in town this summer!
    Fan of all things DeLorean!
