    Ace Frehley (KISS) DeLorean Incident

I just read an excerpt from Ace's autobiography about what he refers to as the "DeLorean incident" in the chapter titled "Fast Cars, Celebs, and Betty White". It's an interesting little tale about the hour long escapade where a drunk and high Ace Freheley drives a speeding DeLorean through New York (sometimes in the wrong direction) with a dozen or so police cars chasing after him. It's cool hearing from the man himself what was going through his mind at the time and all the little details about what went on during chase and afterwards.
In the book, he also wrecks a Porsche 928.
Most of you, I'm sure, know about this to some degree, but I thought I'd mention the book and that particular section which actually made the DeLorean sound pretty darn wicked. I like hearing about the D in pop culture in other ways than BTTF. At the time this happened, there was no BTTF and the DeLorean was a car for rich rock stars and playboys!
Also, does anyone know the whereabouts of the car? Any pics, VIN, anything at all?

Someone said a few years ago that the car was parted out, and if you bought one of his albums, you got a chunk of the car. Never did validate this story though.

On .com DMCH confirmed that the car still exists but are unwilling to reveal the VIN.

In the interview I saw (cannot source it, sorry) he said no, but he remembered it as a "nice ride.". Shocking that he remembers much, of course.

The original police report / impound paperwork would probably have the VIN, if anyone has any friends in the NYPD.

Searching for pictures of Ace F and his D, brings up three totally useless images.

    First up: VideoBob and Ace

then Ace with a different D

and finally the jackpot, per the photo caption "Ace and Peter with the soon to be wrecked DeLorean"

At the time, the current owner didn't want the car to be identified. I've learned that the car has changed hands again.

The car was originally sold to Paul D. Frehley, 29 Tito Lane, Wilton, CT 06897 by dealer 07104 (Import Cars of Greenwich, CT) and is VIN 5712.
