thanks for the advice so far. after i messed up the driver side door, i quit my attempt of sanding because i didnt want to damage anything else. when i get a shop/building started up, i will use chemical paint stripper to remove the paint and primer. im so excited to get to work on her. i keep visioning the day where i pop the key in the ignition and vroooom for the first time lol.

i look forward to the twists and turns that this car will provide me. granted some of them will probably turn my hair gray lol or make me wanna pull my hair out, but it will not deter me from finishing the restoration. She will get returned to her former glory. She will not be destroyed for a BTTF knockoff nor will she be turned into a white trash Joey Paul Gowdy Knockoff of Rich W's masterpiece. I love the DeLorean for what it is.

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

I think the best way to remove the paint is by soda blasting, this will not create heat and warp and damage the panels. But I would still, protect all plastics and trim.

It's really satisfying to see a DeLorean like this get "saved". It'll be nice to see that awful paint get stripped off, too. If money was no object, I would love to just pick up cars like this and send them out to be fully restored to original (except for recommended upgrades) with no expense spared.
