Well judging by the exhaust peeking through it at least has the 305 in it. Most likely carbed. I believe the HP rating for that engine was in the 170 area.

I paid 800 for the car, It has a red door and fender so I had the enitre right side painted for like 350, then over the months fixed her up on my own. I had a freind cut the "Formula" decals for me and restripe the passenger side. I did the hood intake panel painting myself(original idea BTW) For some reason it had firebird wheels on it..I found a set of true Formula wheels and traded the crappy 15's for them plus 100 bcuks boot and refinished them myself. Also restored the interior and thanks to my new friend at the time(ebay) did the underhood area. It was a slick car. I had a lot of fun and good memories fixing that car up, and it really served me well. Everything worked and ran flawlessly. The guy I sold it to wrecked in in the first week

The bad:
- Needs some work, but I was expecting that. $1700 doesn't fetch you a prime and pristine example of GM engineering. Needs bushings and shocks and the like.
- Interior lights don't work, except at the shifter and inside the radio.
- Cruise Control likes to accelerate on its own.
- There's some kind of fuel delivery problem causing it to sputter if you give it lots of gas at once, but if you give it gradual gas it evens out.
- Idling likes to stall. Throttle body needs a good cleaning per the owner.
- Lots of minor cosmetic issues.

The good:
- ZERO RUST. The body alone is pretty much what I paid for the car.
- It runs solid. It made it home from Macon to Gainesville (144 miles) with no real issues.
- Both headlight motors work perfectly.
- New fuel pump (with a cool homebuilt access panel to get to it), new idle control valve, new-ish BFG tires, etc.
- One owner. I bought it from the woman who bought it new from the dealership, and her husband works on cars.
- Clean. The car definitely shows its age, but it's been taken care of.

I see from my detectiving that you have another 2.8L V6 pumping out a heady 135HP.

I don't know why, but I was expecting a carb.

ANYONE WHO HAS A CARBURETOR IN THEIR CAR IS A MORON AND SHOULD NOT OWN AUTOMOBILES.

Also, the carpet job in the trunk is like that because of that white plate there. The PO made a handy little modification to replace the fuel pump assembly. To do that normally, you'd apparently have to drop the axle and the fuel tank. He instead chose to come in from above by cutting a very clean hole right there, and then installing an access panel. Pretty clever, and apparently GM started doing the same thing not long after.

As of a little while ago, I've already completed my first repair. I noticed during my test drive that the turn signals operated VEEERRRRRRY SLOOOOOOOOW. The PO said it was normal, but I knew that was dead wrong. Swapped out the flasher relay and it immediately started operating normally. (Tried to dig through the repair manual to find where the relay is installed but that didn't even help me find it. Had to track it down by listening and feeling.)

You know, if you're gonna do that, Bass Pro Shop has got these slick little electric motors that you can put on the front of your boat. It's much quieter that way.
