Do you plan on shipping it off for the conversion? I'm pretty sure VideoBoB does them in addition to BTTF stuff.

Good luck!
What year model is it? Wasn't the original KITT an 82 Trans-Am w/ T-tops?
I like your goal here. Keep us posted.

Boy does that bring back memories. Back in the late 90's I was sporting a 87 Formula Firebird in the exact same color scheme. It was nothing short of flawless....now I got to find and post a pic of her. I think I paid 800.00 for it and had some paint work done and the rest I did myself. It did look nice.
Ok, didn't KITT have t-tops even in the pilot episode till the last episode? The rest of the panels are replaceable, but t tops are a bit more complex.

The original KITT was indeed a 1982 T-Top Trans-Am, and the one I'm looking at is a 1986 Firebird with no T-Tops. I'm not too terribly worried about the roof (even though I'd prefer a t-top) since it will have the benefit of less maintenance and less worry for leaks. Realistically any 3rd gen firebird will work just fine.
I will NOT be shipping the car off for the conversion. I will be doing the work on my own.
