I thought that was a sheet of paper

I have no idea what you did there.

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

That's because you're an "avid indoorsman".

What have you done to your Firebird today?

    • Replaced turn signal flasher relay.
    • Replaced wiper blades.
    • Cleaned throttle body and replaced air and fuel filters.
    • Replaced PCV valve, O2 sensor, EGR vacuum hose, alternator belt, power steering belt, and air conditioning belt.
    • Removed differential cover and drained gear oil, cleaned and ground cover, replaced cover and refilled with new gear oil.
    • Replaced front and rear sway bar end links and bushings as well as rear shocks.

Tomorrow will see the front struts get replaced and then an oil change.

Very cool project! My older brother was huge into Knight Rider from '82 when the show started. He built a KITT replica in '83-'84 when the show was still on.

You are better off with an '86 than an earlier car as the 3rd gen cars got better as years went up. Also, IMHO you are better off w/o T-tops. No leaks! It can get pretty expensive getting them not to leak...

I believe I have a set of take off tail lights from my old '84 T/A. They have been stored indoors since 1990 and are in really nice shape as I recall. You may rather a set of crappy ones though, since you will need to drill into them to attach the tail light blackout panel. Anyway, PM me if you are interested.

Definitely interested, though depending on the trim level it might look exactly like the ones I already have. Can you take a pic?

if ur doing a KITT, youre definitely going to want those 84 TA tail lamps. They are the correct ones underneath the black out panel.

All 3 of my 3rd Gen TAs had TTops.... and they ALL leaked like crazy.

Oddly enough, im looking for a GTA with TTops..... weird..

Absolutely correct. I was planning to put some feelers out there for the proper tail lights as well as start looking at some junk yards. And I also plan on getting the single-piece blackout panel since the three-piece looks like crap.
