My friends Nsx has the leather on the headlining - its really nice but I'm wondering if it would be too much?
I definitely think leather headliners would be way too much. Like someone else mentioned, Alcantara would be very appropriate, though. I can't wait to see this interior completed; the quality of the leather & the stitching are on par with modern high-end German cars for sure. I'm thoroughly impressed with the lengths to which you've recovered everything... this will truly be the only DeLorean in the world with a full leather interior.

Are you having the steering wheel redone as well? My second DeLorean had a refurbished steering wheel with Nappa leather & beefed up padding to make it slightly thicker. The original steering wheel leather (especially if it's not aged gracefully) is one area many DeLorean owners seem to neglect when tackling full restorations. The steering wheel leather tends to shrink & pull away from the center medallion; not to mention it's grain isn't the best, either.

I'll get a few snaps of the headlining off to the trimmers and see what they come back to me with in terms of options.

I've seen leather headlining on a Delorean before and didnt like it - the shape of the door headlining means a few different sections are needed and I think it looks crap.

I had the steering wheel redone recently. Made a big difference!

In my opinion, a leather headliner would be too much. I would stick with the OEM replacement headliners - you don't want to overdo it or make it look like you're trying too hard. It would look too far from stock and too "customy". My ideal DeLorean would have everything that was vinyl done in fine leather (plus the A and B Pillars) and some nice wilton wool carpets. Understated improvements. Just my opinion!

Yea I agree with this. The replacement set might be the way to go.

I've seen pictures ones from leather covered roof on a Delorean and I did not like it. The stitches were nice, but it felt a little "cold" that way.
I do have a picture of an Alcantara roof, I'll dig it up so you can see that beauty!

I am planning for that Alcantara next winter! Combined with a nice -not over the top- custom roof console,... Mmmmmm

    It looks great!

One question, did you do the center console (where the ashtray goes). That piece is the eyesore of my cabin. If so can you post a pic.

    Thanks
    Jeff
Q: How do you make a small fortune restoring a DeLorean?

Not much to add here. This is going to be the nicest "stock" DeLorean interior out there. Stay tuned if you're interested in carbon fiber bits for accents!
