    (another) "wont start" thread

Being away for close to 7 months and leaving the car in the care of someone else, the lack of attention is catching up. This time, the car will not start. For some reason the fuel pump isnt running. I tried jumping the pins for the RPM relay, checked the inertia switch, and checked for continuity at the fuse block. None of which give me any signs of life. What would be my next best move?

I would check to see if there is electricity going to the fuel pump wire connection. If not, replace the fuel pump unit.

Well, the problem is: I'm not even getting voltage at the 87/30 terminals

    What's the condition of Fuse 7 ?

Power flow: Battery + >> Main Relay >> Fuse 7 >> Fuel pump Relay >> RPM Relay >> Fuel Pump >> Inertia switch >> Chassis Ground.

Well, looking further into my problem I found that fuse 7 isn't even hooked up... It was bypassed. The PO cut the wires off the back because the fuse block melted and used a jumper fuse in place of it. The idiot used a LOT of electrical tape to cover up his crap splicing and Im in the middle of cutting it off right now

Is your battery dead? Just turn on the headlights to test the battery.

Just replaced it with a brand new Interstate MT-78 from work. Full 12 volts at the posts

If your car is an automatic, it won't start unless the shifter is all the way up into park (or maybe neutral too, I don't remember for certain). Another easy thing to check anyway.

    Just an FYI:

Testing voltage on the battery with no loads tells you nothing about battery condition. With the headlights on your loading about 15 amps.

Fuel pump relay? Same thing as the Lambda Relay?
