Wow. Very interesting. I wonder where the car is now? I don't think it's the one at Petersen Museum, which has saddle interior, fender antenna, and no gas-flap hood.

James's note says 1542 but it doesn't look like it was confirmed. Technically, there are 5 if you count Wolfgang Hank's however I'd say only 3 are originally Gold.

Wonder if the Maryland (the last vin'd Delorean) car ever sold.

Kind of a misleading article. DMC built 2 AMX Gold DeLoreans. Kapac used the spare parts DMC had for the two they built (minus 1 door) to modify "the last vinned 83" into a 3rd. This car is a replica of the Gold AMX DeLoreans commissioned by the cars original owner. How is this car more significant then an owner painted DeLorean? Or a BTTF Time Machine replica? It is not worth the distinction of being called THE 4th Gold DeLorean. It's a much earlier replica then Wolfgang Hank's and a different approach was taken (Real Gold plated instead of a wrap) but is no more significant.

    Very interesting story.
That's too bad the original owner didn't' kept his car.
I would love to see more pictures of the process with they gold plated the stainless panel.

True. It really isn't anymore significant than other painted D's or BTTF replicas, other than the fact that it's real gold and that DeLorean released 2 (or 3) gold DeLoreans, whereas they never released any painted cars or BTTF replicas. That being said, it definitely should not be regarded as THE fourth gold DeLorean, as it was done "aftermarket" by the owner. It is A gold DeLorean Wolfgang's DeLorean is not real gold, but rather a gold colored paint (probably due to lack of functionality and the high cost).
    It's still pretty cool, though.
