Dash Lighting Questions and Rheostat Wiring Question
Hello!!! Sooo.... I have no dash lights. I've read about a few rheostat wiring changes, but I think my wiring has been altered by the PO. I've enclosed a picture the two wires that were plugged into the rheostat, and their locations when i pulled the plate off...
and heres the two wires. Two wires (red with yellow stripe) go into one plug.
Ideas? i dont need the dimming feature, I'd just like dash lights
I have the same doubled up wires, and I think that it's factory. But it does look like you only have 2 connections, and I know there should be 3. It looks from your first photo that there's a wire folded over and wrapped into the harness, might that be another connector?
Here's how my working rheostat was wired before I unhooked it and put in a three-way jumper instead.

the first photo shows the wire being taped up (tucked back in) the second picture is after i pulled the tape back and showed a little bare wire, so i retaped it to protect (second picture) I'm going to start digging for the third wire plug...
Nice. Not sure how picky this circuit is about what plugs where, but like I said for reference - my photo was of a working rheostat. If you don't plan to dim the lights or have LEDs installed, just make up a quick 3-way jumper and cut the whole rheostat out of the picture. It may not even be working anyway, they are known to wear out. Good luck.
