Does anyone know of a good loud horn upgrade?
Tired of the wimpy sounding one, actually both!

Personllay I have a love hat relationship with the horn. It's very dignified and polite like Brit horn should be. On the other hand it's embarassing and useles when you have to use it.

What do yours sound like? Do they sound like this? (dying ostrich was a good description I got one day...)
When I replaced both of them with NOS ones from DMCH, they sounded a lot better and loud enough (to me) to let people know you're there. Part 2 horn test is there if you look for it...
Sept. 81, auto, black interior
Any generic auto parts store horn sounds better than stock. I got these back in 2001 at the old Big Wheel Rossi aka Checkers aka O'Reilly's.
Taken with a 3rd party vido app from my old iPhone 3g (no native movie functionality)...

I have a set of Stebel Horns on my DeLorean. When I got the car, it had an older set of Stebel Horns that eveuntually died. Since I liked their sound, I picked up a new set on eBay. Here's the website:

They are made in Italy.

I personally like the stock horns but the horns on the 2002+ MINIs are quite loud. They're basically as loud as the stock ones in my Impala SS...before I added the Fleetwood horns.

Has anyone more recently come across some good, loud horns?

Also, what size (Amps?) can the standard wiring handle?
Reason I ask, I once put louder horns on an old VW (1980's) but there wasn't enough Ommph (Amps) to get them working. Had to run a separate relay.
I loves my grooves!
It may sound crazy, but I'm happy with 2 new original Mixo horns. I had the same problem before. Wimpy sound. That's because the insides get rusty, but you can't tell until you take them apart.
With 2 new well connected horns, my D's horns are the loudest of my cars. Plus they are reasonably priced.
