I see 2 major problems:
1) $5000 in 13 days? Best of luck.
2) $5000 to build a replica? The last number I recall hearing was $45,000 to build a proper replica. $5000 will more likely build you One Of These

No, various projects asked for and raised several million dollars. It's common though to low-ball the target amount even though the project obviously needs more to suceed, because if the donnations don't reach the target amount the project owner gets nothing. Sad to say I've seen a lot of 'just give me some cash which I may or may not spend on something cool for myself' projects on there. For example there was a guy trying to get the Internet to buy him a top-end gaming PC, supposedly so he could mess around with ('do ground breaking research on') some very amateurish cellular automata programs.

Well isn't this just the state of our culture. Forget about those who just lost everything they have in the recent tornados in OK., lets funnel some cash to the guy who owns a dream car...poor thing, how do you get by driving a plain Jane DeLorean, must be Hell to drive a mile in your car. Thank goodness there are those on kickstarter that have the compassion to help you through this time of need.

When you put it like that it's actually worse than this guy. At least he doesn't already have a neat sports car.
