    road trip music

I won't post any videos, so I'll just list some of the music I put on my mp3 player for long trips.

    Gentle Giant
Peter Gabriel/Genesis (before Phil Collins started singing)
    Brand X
    U.K.
    Steely Dan
    Yes
    Jackson Browne
    King Crimson
    Emerson, Lake, & Palmer
    Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler
    L.T.D.
    Earth, Wind, & Fire
    Tower of Power
    Oscar Peterson
    Chet Baker
    Clark Terry
    Phil Woods
    Paul Desmond
    Ella Fitzgerald
    Count Basie
    Patrick Williams
    Bruce Hornsby
    Pat Metheny
    The Hollies
    Sting
    Eric Bibb
    Alison Krauss & Union Station
    Béla Fleck/Edgar Meyer
    Steve Tibbetts
    Stereolab
    Quincy Jones
    Kenny Davern
    Urbie Green
    Martin Taylor
    Tierney Sutton
    Fred Hersch
    Rick Trolsen
    Booker T
    David Byrne
    Stevie Wonder
    Kevin Gilbert
    Solomon Burke
    Mickey Hart
    New Cool Collective
    Van Morrison
    Squeeze
    Roberta Flack
    Warren Zevon
    Fishbone
    Thomas Dolby

I'm sure there are a few I forgot, especially in the funk and jazz veins, but you get the idea. I like to mix it up.

I don't listen to classical music in the car because the dynamic range is too wide for the environment. So I generally tend to stick with recordings/artists/genres that are pretty stable in terms of dynamics.

That entire album Shuttered Room is kick-ass.

On a different note, here's a few more that made my D-playlist:

One that I've always liked I haven't seen mentioned here. (Maybe I've got Weird taste in music)?

I met Greg several times back when I used to work in radio - nicest guy and a big car nut. Never met David Glen Eisley, but always wanted to. House of Lords isn't too bad, and while I like James Christian, he's no DGE IMHO.
