Trailing arm dust shields: on or off?

I've got mine off to do a little work and I really despise them. Why they used those lame bolts that seize and never remove properly ill never understand.

I know there are no ill effects to running without them, so I've filled the holes with black silicone and put the shields in my parts pile for the time being.

Anyone else run sans dust shields?

When I bought my car it didn't have them. So I have run without them for years.

DUST shields. Hardly! All they seem to do is trap Sand and Dirt above them. You might call them deflectors though. I installed the Stainless Stud strips back in the mid 90's. Never an issue since.

I think they are more for aerodynamics under the car.

I personally like them for appearances, I cleaned mine to like new and installed the PJ Grady stainless retainers. They look nice and are trivial to remove now, which isn't a really common event for most work.

Mine are sitting in my parts pile. I've never had them on my car. No plans to put them back on.

Yeah I got those retainer screws from Hervey years ago and installed them. Takes less than 3 minutes to remove the dust shields on my car. It's a good upgrade if anyone is interested.

First thing to come off my car. Seem pretty useless. Half the clips were broken anyway.
