    Internet Providers

Are there any other options for internet? We have two choices in Nashville for cable internet, (Comcast and At&t). Both only have a 6 month contract for internet only. You have the $29.99 for six months then you get a bill for $107.99. Neither offers a 12 month contract unless you have a home phone or cable with them and I don't want either. I don't need a home phone and I really like Dish Network for cable. Every six month we have to call Comcast, wait on hold for 15 minutes, speak with a Foreigner, then talk them into giving you the same deal for six month.

They've got you by the balls!

Weird...Dish Network is trying to shove internet service down our throat...

You have to quit them for a month before you can take advantage of the "deals"...

You could tether to your phone or try one of those satellite providers. I pay 70 bucks a month for 8/1 from Centurylink. I'd love to only pay 30 a month.

Holy Cow Kenny! Does that include a home phone or any type of TV service?

I almost considered going without since I'm behind a computer all day at work and I have my phone but as the moderators can see, I enjoy my DMCTALK at night and on the weekends.

I assume this is for residential and not business...

Depending on your bandwidth needs, you might be able to do a 4G wifi hotspot through a mobile carrier or something. There's a couple of guys in my office who use that. It's handy if you travel a lot and don't want to pay for 2 internet connections.

If you went that route, I'd be heads-up on the terms and conditions and make sure they can't blow you up with a bunch of overages.

    Just a thought.

Nope, just internet. It's not even good internet. Mediacom is 50 bucks a month for 10/2 here but I've heard bad things about their spotty service. Since I work from home I'm stuck with CL.

I wouldn't get the dish ever again. They just took $550 from my bank account for not turning there stuff in fast enough. We are moving and I didn't want cable anymore so I called them and they sent boxes for the stuff. A
Couple weeks later they take 550 from me for not sending back the stuff.
Then you send the stuff back and you have to Waite 3-5 days to get your money back.
Such b.s, never again will I get the dish.
