Driving around at 55mph I am getting anywhere between 55 and 62 coming out of the vents. This is in MAX Ac mode.
Is that a normal temp?

This summer has not had many really hot days. When we get one I will check what I get but on MAX where it recirculates the air a lot depends on the sun heating the cabin and how long you have had it running on MAX

Where's Ron when you need him?
In reality, you're seeing a 40-50 degree drop there in vent temperature from outside ambient. That sounds about right to me.

Mid 40Fs to low 50Fs would be the target range for R-12 in 100F.
So you are running about 10F higher than normal.
You may be freezing up the evaporator slightly running the LPS at a 20psi cutoff, which would hinder the performance of your system. I'd try bumping up the LPS cut-off to somewhere around 25psi, which was the stock/OEM setting for R-12.
If that doesn't improve performance, then you may have less than a full charge in your system.
