    Canadian Stamps, eh?

    This made my day!

I was a bit of a philatelist back in the day so I still put neat stamps aside (like the ones I got from Alex in Greece recently)

I ordered a set of Asterix books in French from a person in Canada and they arrived today. There were 24 of them, each one about the size of a DeLorean World mag, so the box was about 14x14x6"

When I looked at the front, about 2/3 of it was covered in stamps - about 63 of them totaling at least CAD$32

And then I looked closer and there were some 8c stamps! How cheap is postage in Canada? Oh, look they are Olympic commemorative stamps. That's nice. From 1976!!!

And here are some Christmas 1975 stamps (top right)

    And Christmas 1983

Has someone been sitting on these for 38 years and now thought they would use them . Thank you sir for doing so.

Okay thats pretty cool. I have a huge collection tucked away in my closet somewhere. I always had a hard time finding an appropriate way to display them.

That is a very rare happening. I thought stamps unused were if higher value, or is that not true.

I will try to find a parcel photo I had taken again from Canada with over 120 stamps all over it to cover the shipping value toGreece. That parcel looked so ridiculous!!!!

Are you a fellow Asterix fan? I love Asterix and Obelix! The best film by far is The Twelve Tasks of Asterix (1976)...

I honestly only discovered that they made movies from the books last month!

We had a full set of well worn books from the 80s and have just added a set of original French language ones. Some of the puniest books written.

Strange indeed. Hardly ever see anyone using stamps on large packages these day, let alone use a collection from over 30 years.
That is quite the collection on one package. I live in Canada and collected stamps as a kid and haven't even seen some of those.

I shipped a package out once, it came in at about $55 dollars for shipping. The post office had a bunch of left over stamps they could not get rid of as they had a picture of an overweight man in swimming trunks on them, lol. So the package was send with about 90 of these stamps.
