    Door straps

    Can the early version setup be made to look like the later setup as shown in the pic?

    What actually holds the strap from pulling out?

    Yes, a late style conversion can be done. I believe DeloreanJoshQ has done this.
    You'll need to buy the trim, and cut holes in the door panels. The strap needs two holes, where bolts go through them, and into the door.

    If you're thinking about cutting holes in your door card to put straps through DON'T DO IT! If I recall the ones without holes (early vins) do not exist anymore. Take off the ones you have and buy some NOS ones with the hole already there. Then store the originals or sell them for a tidy profit.
