Hey Lou,
All those are references to the Mike Judge film Idiocracy (2006), staring Luke Wilson and Dax Shepard. It came up in the thread because Chris used the word baiting, to which Robert posted a meme featuring Dax Shepard's character from the film 'batin (short for masturbating).

Correct. Idiocracy despite it's fart & dick jokes on the surface, is actually a high-brow comedy that makes fun of stupid people. Aside from the trailer, again take a look at the intro that I posted previously.

My post was a little harsh, so I'm sorry. But it actually fits in with the movie. To break it down, every time the main character Joe speaking to people clearly, the make fun of him because society and culture has broken down so much, what sounds intelligent now is alien in the future. So much so that intelligent people are ostracized for being the minority and are called 'tards.
There is some controversy around the film. It didn't score very well with test audiences (probably because they were the group being made fun of in the film), and it wasn't even screened for critics. Plus there was the nervousness of Fox about offending so many corporations. Ie. The star logo is a current one for the hamburger chain Carl's Jr. (known as Hardees on the east coast). Their advertising slogan at the time was, "Don't bother me, I'm eating.", and in the movie where corporations are dumbed down as well in their advertising it becomes, "Fuck you! I'm eating!". Lot's of other corporations got ribbed in this movie as dumbing down their advertising to cater to more and more stupid people. A favorite TV show is "Ow! My Balls!" which is just a guy constantly getting his testicles injured. And there is so much more. It's a flick that you should really watch twice: Once for the plot and the second time just to see all of the little details in the movie, which there are ALOT of.
Mike Judge who wrote and directed it also did Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill, Office Space, and Extract too. If you get the chance, I can't recommend this flick enough. IMO, conservative or liberal it's a movie you're gonna love because both sides keep arguing about the dangers of people being stupid, and this movie brings all of that to life on both sides of the argument.
