    My VIN:    897 5 spd,

The blower speed switch is from ~'81 to 90's vintage VW Jetta, Gulf and others as well. I just installed one ($10 eBay) and it feels a lot better than the old one - more solid and tight feeling. The old one failed catastrophically and eventually would not rotate or operate the blower.

At that price it might be worth changing out as a PM replacement.

    VOLKSWAGEN #: 191959511A

Part numbers seem to cross as follow(I've not verified these but found this list somewhere online):
    AUDI 191 959 511A
    FEBI BILSTEIN 14078
    HERTH+BUSS ELPARTS 70505119
    JP GROUP 959401001
    JP GROUP 1196800400
    MAXGEAR 50-0033
    OE 70505119
    SWAG 30 91 4078
    TOPRAN 103 428
    VAG 191 959 511 A
    VEMO V10-73-0107

    - No matter how many people believe in a dumb idea ... it is still a dumb idea!
    - Some cars look fast. Some cars look faster than time!
    - The question is not "where did the time go" but rather "where to go in time".

This is for people who have the DMC louvre center brace. DO NOT get these if you're using the factory lower engine cover stay assembly (#106363). They WILL NOT WORK.

"Mighty Lift" struts. The number you'll want is D95112. On the strut body, there are different numbers; the D95112 number is what they looked up in their computer so use that if you want the same struts I'm using.

Don't fret that they have male electrical spades on them; you won't need them for anything. They were still only $17 a piece.

Actual snippet of a conversation from Sept 2013:

Me: Eddie, I can't wait to get the car back when you're done with it.

Eddie: Yeah, you'll be able to give the car gas, and it won't be - like - embarrassing....

    Blower-woes

So, I order the Four Seasons 35589 motor. I install it, and turned it on to feel not much air coming from the passenger side hole.
I reach outside to feel the air vents below the windshield, and air is blowing out of them like a mofo.
Oh no! The motor is turning the wrong way, I say to myself.
So I compare with the old motor. It turns the SAME direction.
(My old motor reads: 'UNIMOTOR 11589 12V 01354' Made in Canada.
Looking at the shaft, it turns COUNTER clockwise.
Can anyone verify which direction the motor should turn?
    I appreciate the help.
    Oliver
ps: I was doing so well. I even replaced all the screws with shiny new ones and was so proud that 'I fixed it myself!' *Moan*

Oliver, did you hook the wires up correctly? If hooked up backwards, I believe it will spin backwards. Just a thought.

Hmm maybe mine is spinning the wrong way... The first two levels don't feel like much but I also never had a proper one to compare to! I'll do some digging or pull it out and bench test it as soon as I get some time..
