Depends entirely on the shifter condition. Some need torched out and others come right apart. I advise to remove the shifter assembly completely from the car for installation.

I suppose all you need to do is remove the pin for instalation.
Damn, I just had the complete shifter reinstalled.

My hands are actually quite good in tight specs :s I was wondering what the stick replacement procedure is. Is it held in by a pin or is it screwed in?

clip on the base of it. Requires pulling the assembly up to reach the bottom. The rod is spring loaded for reverse lock out.
