Movie "American Hustle" - Small DeLorean connection

Not sure if anyone caught this, but in the movie "American Hustle" set in the 70s, the lead actress is walking in the offices of Cosmopolitan magazine, and she walks by a large cover of Christina Ferrare, John's wife at the time gracing the cover of the magazine.

    Here's a screenshot: American Hustle.jpg

Here's clear scan of cover from my site archive: cfcosmojuly741x1.jpg

Like I said, small connection, but figured I'd share my eagle eye catch.

It's more than that. The story is based off of ABSCAM (or AraBSCAM) which was a tactic that the FBI used to catch politicians and businessmen accepting bribes and laundering cash. It was the same tactic used against John De Lorean by the DEA later on. ABSCAM came crashing down when Senator Pressler refused to go along with the scam and alerted the FBI to investigate. Bob Guccione (of Penthouse & other publishing fame) refused as well when asked to bribe government officials for a casino project. Now he didn't alert anyone, but did unsuccessfully tried to sue the government later on for what they put him through.

Given the amount of embarrassment that ABSCAM caused for the government, they allowed Pressler to be praised as a hero, and probably went out of their way to crush De Lorean to prevent another embarrassment. Which of course backfired from the moment Larry Flynt leaked the arrest tape, to the testimony of witnesses and former agent Scotti, until De Lorean's acquittal.

I'm sure that it's less of a coincidence that Ferrare's picture is there, and more of a nod.
