Queen's University Belfast - Electric DeLorean

Some of you may or may not know that the students of Queen's University have set out to build an Electric DeLorean.

Well it featured tonight on the local BBC Northern Ireland News, and it is hoped the car will be on the road for October 2015.

I hope the link below works for you guys.

    My VIN:    2743

    Club(s):   (SEDOC) (DCH) (DCUK) (DOC-UK)

I have been trying to get them to start a thread on here for months on this built, but they have been too busy I guess.

    VIN 2743, B/A, Frame 2227, engine 2320

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

My VIN:    A few, by name... DeLorean Monster Truck, DeLorean Roadster, DeLorean Hovercraft, DeLorean Limo

    Club(s):   (DMWC) (DCUK)

Cool video. A little short on EV details, but it should be an interesting project for the teacher and students.

As always, an inquiry for the VIN would be great, for the DeLorean community, if you get the opportunity.

They are probably up to their eyes in it at the moment Dermot. I presume you have made contact with them?

Rich - I only found out last night a guy from Delorean Owners Ireland supplied the car, I will ask to find out what the Vin number is.

Another article appeared on the BBC website this morning - http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-27147947

It will be great seeing it on the road once completed.

Wow! Thanks for posting! That's great they are working on this.

Some of the Canadian owners might take special note as we have a Queen's University here as well. It's in Kingston, Ontario (not sure if they share a history or something with their founders?)

It's been almost 20 years, so much has changed since I was there, but once upon a time we only had a limited number of ways to help work on the Solar race car, Mini Baja car or Formula SAE car teams.

I saw this "machine shop" video link and it looks some good stuff is continuing there today. Especially the part where they are reverse engineering and fabricating car parts

Impressive stuff happening at Queen's University Kingston. I dare say when I was being educated the equipment was seen as state of the art back then, but its nothing compared to what students have access to today.

I noticed that Jake "QUB" student said he was going to add touch screens to their DeLorean. I wonder if he got a bit of inspiration from Patrick and Vin 1880?
