It was at Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, CA. Stopped there again on my way back, did the usual one-person car show for a couple who were super excited about seeing a D in person.

I drove from DMCCA to Vegas on Wed. night and Vegas back to SLC today. Altogether it was about 700 miles, and I didn't have to make any panicked phone calls to Mike, Danny or AAA so it might have been my most successful road trip yet.

The trip included two hours of stop & go traffic trying to get to the 15 from Huntington Beach and quite a few 6,000' mountain passes, and I'm happy to report my car stayed nice and cool the whole time. Hooray!

While I was in Vegas I got to spend some more time hanging out with Bob & Gail, and Bob let me help him replace the header seals on his V8 time machine. Mostly I just unscrewed bolts, picked up dropped tools and tried not to screw anything up, lol. It was a really cool thing to see, though. One thing I'll say for this car, for all the money I've spent on it, it's brought a lot of priceless experiences into my life.

At about 30k mi, your Lambda light should come ON. Don't panic, it's just a reminder indicator to replace your O2 sensor. The light will stay ON until the LAMBDA counter is reset to "zero" and the counter starts all over again for another 30k interval. There was at least one thread topic on here with photos that shows you the procedure for resetting it.

Test drives count as adventures, right? I wanted to take it out for a run longer than my commute, in the hopes that if anything important was going to shake loose it would do it before I was 200 miles into Wyoming. By the time I got my door put back together, stopped by the shop to get the idle checked and finally got on the freeway it was rush hour, so the path of least traffic, was heading west. I had some notion to drive to Wendover and back to see if I'd broken the curse, but I forgot Tooele was the last gas station before leaving civilization and I was down to 1/4 tank so I ended up turning around at the Dugway exit so as not to risk wasting my 3rd of 4 free AAA calls on that. Which was just as well since right afterward my gas warning light came on. It only ended up taking between 11 and 12 gallons so I might have made it but I would have been running on fumes and prayer.

I was pretty exhausted by the time I got home, having exerted myself more than probably should have been necessary while putting the door panels back on this morning (the grab handle was the worst), so in retrospect I'm glad I didn't try to go all the way to Wendover (and back tonight, since it's supposed to rain tomorrow.) It was a nice drive, anyway. I took the back roads home and missed the worst of the traffic, and got to see some scenery I hadn't seen before.

The car seems like it's running decently aside from its reluctance to start, so as long as nothing catches on fire or blows a gasket between now and Monday, I'm calling it all systems go for another epic road trip

Heh, well, "fine" is a relative term but it's been like 4 months since I've had to call a tow truck so I'm cautiously optimistic. Of course it did spend approx. 3-1/2 of those months in the shop so maybe my optimism is still not completely warranted, hahah...

Well, that's one way to save money on maintenance :-P

    Just before sunset.

No major disasters yet, although another electrical gremlin manifested - when I turned my headlights on, my left turn signal indicator lit up too. Not a huge deal yet, but I was glad to get off the road before full dark.

400ish miles down, 900ish to go...

Dont worry about the turn indiciator, people will just assumed youre a senior and forgot your turn signal...which amy also mean they wont drive in your blind spot...hehe.
