I really need to get an exhaust system for my car. Last piece so I can finally get my car running after a long time!!!

What I want is a sound like Justin's car. That's the best I have ever heard!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrOBCZWM8Zc

I also noticed Josh is selling S/S exhaust headers also. http://delorean.gostorego.com/original-stainless/spec-header-kit-pair.html I had asked him sometime ago, he said he didn't sell them separately, but looks like he is now. Wonder if he will put the cats for sale also.

I was thinking, buy Josh headers, same muffler Justin has, Flowmaster 80 Series, but 2 in 2 out muffler. Justin has 1 in 2 out muffler. Should sound the same, right??

Would like to hear some ideas or anything.

I'm not one to describe what it sounds like, but I can say that I just replaced the factory exhaust with Josh's Spec I on my car and it's very nice.

I've heard plenty of high quality videos on his exhaust kit, don't like the sound, sort of sounds like a lawn mower or something, or like an old muscle car.

If you are on a budget I have a complete stock exhaust system for sale that was removed from a car that had a turbo conversion. Manifolds, pipes, cat, and muffler with all of the hardware and bracketry.

It is a problem when no one has quality recording equipment to make videos... Have you hard one in person Billy?

We do offer just the headers now.

I have one of Josh's exhausts on my car. it sounds awesome and is nothing like the video (which does sound like a lawn mower. ).

sound improvement was great but even more amazing is the performance gain.

I need to work to destroy all videos of this that do not truly represent the product. I will start by reporting all videos that are not high enough quality on youtube. Any other links anyone finds let me know. I hate lawn mowers as most of us here do I'm sure.

I would like to buy the whole kit, its the sound that is also important to me. Josh you got any high quality sound of it? Does it also make that burble noise when the car slows down? I like that sound

I have the non-CAT version of this and love it, except for the unfiltered exhaust smell. Great sounding though!

and a muffler that weighs as much as a stock system entirely!

Hey Josh, is it possible to take a quick high quality video when you can tomorrow?

I am ready to buy a kit, I just want to be sure. Wish price was a little lower.

The reason why I have never posted a video is that I don't have the ability to make a quality one. More than happy to help you find a local owner so you can hear it in person.

I'm in Queens NY. Not sure if anyone at least 1 hour drive is around me.

Josh, too bad i don't live near you. I work on commercials for Nike, Google, Disney, etc for a living. It would be cool to shoot some high end spots that show off your products. They ought to be represented in a beautiful way.

Also if anyone is selling a used exhaust system I'm in the market. PM me!

BTW here is music video we shot using my one of my cars for a John Delorean tribute music album a few years ago, thought it would be fun to share.

Flowmaster 80 series is what Houston's original "Performance Exhaust" used 10-11 years ago. It's what I've got.

Am I the only one with a decent mic? :P Maybe I should take it outside on a dry day and get some sound for you guys. The car's in the garage right now, though, so it won't sound very good.

I'd be curious to know if you bought Josh's headers and a Flowmaster 80 muffler, can a shop build the rest of the system (including CATs) and still keep the price under the $2100 that you pay for the off the shelf DPI Spec 1? Or, the DMC kit for that matter.

What's the incentive for not buying a full kit? Different performance possibly? Different exhaust note?

As the owner of the car in the OP video, I can say the following:

The factory muffler is VERY restrictive
Simply replacing the factory muffler with the Flowmaster gives a nice sound, but you really don't feel anything significant
Headers may let the car breathe more, but it's still not going to be a huge power gain

I've done the Flowmaster muffler & everything else is stock including cross-over pipe. I do have Hervey's "performance" CAT that is the same configuration as the original. I never really felt anything from these mods, but I loved the sound. I ended up putting DMC-CA cams in the car & this is what livened the car up. It made the car drive more like "a modern 4-cylinder"....more pep, I can feel the acceleration improvement, but the car is still not that fast. I took the car to the drag-strip & you can see my time in my signature. I was about 1 second faster than a stock DMC 5-speed. Cams + muffler got me a high-16 second 1/4 mile & headers might shave off another .2 or so.

If you're doing it for the sound alone, you can get the Flowmaster for around $100 plus whatever a shop would cost for some pipe bending & welding....I'll ballpark it at $500. Personal opinion as I have heard the DPI system: it's OK, but not what I like. My Flowmaster is a deeper "v8 like" tone....exactly what I wanted it to sound like.

If you want the modest power increase you can go all out & spend $3k-$5k for the whole package & get a bit of power, but still not make the car a super car.

In summary spend your money how it makes sense to you. I recently bought a 2000 TransAm with the LS1 engine. That is a fast & powerful car at only 350ish HP, which by the way has a Magnaflow & is the same applicaton as the Flowmaster that I installed on the DMC. So much different of a car to drive, but I still love the character of the DMC despite the minuscule power.

Thank you for the info Justin!

I also have a 2000 Trans Am LS1. Love it. Wish I could put the LS1 in the DeLorean. I would still worry about an exhaust set up.

Here is my car idling with a custom exhaust http://s40.photobucket.com/user/crazyedfsu/media/IMG_1216_zpsf76361ad.mp4.html that Eddie did for me. I think it works well and sounds good.

I am running Eddie's setup as well. Granted, I have a completely different engine, so me posting a video to it would be misleading. Samuel's post will be much more directed towards the majority of owners as he has the PRV w/turbo.

But............ for those that do want to know: 3:12 mark

This was always my favorite exhaust note (from 2012):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFI2gZay79M

(This is not how the car sounds BTW; This is open headers, no mufflers or exhaust piping whatsoever, just headers and O2 sensors. The neighbors were very happy when mufflers finally went on the car, haha)

I actually really like SEO Motorsports new setups; both for the VR6 and the PRV setup; simple and sounds good. Honestly its a good time for DeLorean exhausts right now with so many options: UK SS Exhaust, SEO Motorsports, DPI, DMCH, even SpecialTauto. It's a shame that there is no good way to video/record the exhaust notes (with high quality) becuase it would be great to be able to compare them all. If we had thought about it, DCS would have been the perfect time to try to capture the differences between them all.
