See picture and the two red circles. Am I missing two Links? http://store.delorean.com/p-7539-link.aspx

Also, I'm trying to figure out how the spring (red arrow) should be attached. Maybe it will sort itself out once I have the two Links in place....

Yes, they are missing. Someone sell you an incomplete box?

Hey Dan,

This is what seems to be missing from the Pedal Box:

Link: Qty = 2; p/n 101688; http://store.delorean.com/p-7539-link.aspx

Clevis Pin: Qty = 4; p/n 106061; http://store.delorean.com/p-8676-clevis-pin.aspx

Clip Bayonet: Qty = lots (however many you can find); p/n SP10115; http://store.delorean.com/p-7538-clip-bayonet.aspx

None of the above is available @ DMCH....

Thanks.

In case all of the pins and clips aren't locatable, there are plenty of generic pins and clips at any hardware store that will work. I had to replace one of mine that was missing when I did my transmission swap; I was able to buy one at ACE Hardware that worked great. It was a long pin with several holes in it so that you could cut it down to whatever size you need. I just used a washer and cotter pin; still working great.

Still hope you get the originals but if not, at least you have options.

Great input - thanks Nicholas. Since you have already swapped your transmission to manual (I'm about to):

Is it possible to leave the existing (auto) pedal box in place and just swap out the pedals?
(I do reallize that this approach would also require that I cut a couple of holes in the pedal box for the master clutch cylinder - no big deal.)

I am hoping you will tell me that the pedal replacement is possible b/c replacing the entire pedal box assembly seems to require a complete removal of the dash board as well as the steering column.... What a pain....

It would take what I would consider to be significant modification to make the auto box work with the manual pedals. I don't think it would be possible to modify the box with it in the car. I swapped out the pedal box and honestly, it was way easier than I expected. Once you pull the column, (which is a lot easier than you think), it just a couple bolts to get the pedal box out. No need to remove the dash or anything. Hardest part is that the box has glue/sealant between it and the firewall so once you have the bolts out, the box has to be pealed from the wall. Be sure to put some permatex silicone back on the new one.

The process of swapping the pedal box was documented in my blog in this entry:

Hopefully this helps.

Yes, that is very helpful, thanks Nicholas. Do you have an aid for removing the steering column? Also, was it necessary to remove the binnacle to remove the pedal box or was it removed for some other reason?

I had the binnacle out for a different reason. I was working on integrating the gauges with the engine at that time. To my knowledge, there wasn't any benefit to having it removed.

The steering column is easy. Once you disconnect the upper universal joint on the other side of the firewall, there are 2 10mm bolts and 2 small 5mm bolts holding the column in. Pull those and the column comes right out. I believe there is either 1 or 2 electrical plugs to disconnect for the column, and it will definitely make it easier if you remove the 2 driver side knee pads.

Edit: after thinking about the binnacle removal, I'm trying to remember how the binnacle wires are routed. It may have been necessary to unplug the wires going to the gauges so that they could be properly routed through the pedal box. I may not have given this much thought since I already had the binnacle out.
