It's surfaced again in orlando. I worked for a certain person 4 years ago and he bought this for a client to be made into a prop BTTF car to be displayed in their house.

Story is that it came from a casino in Vegas and they hung it from the ceiling. Car has no frame but has a box steel frame to hold the wheels on and to string it to the rafters.

After I quit that place shortly after this car was bought I never heard of it again and it's back. The shop it was sitting in is about 5 miles or so from where the car is for sale so I'm guessing it hasn't moved since I last saw it.

The car is an absolute wreck. Supposedly they want $5k for it. I'm going back tomorrow to see if I can score it for a lot less.

Is there a VIN plate on this?

I must admit, I don't recall hearing of this one before.

Haha, wow; yea I went and looked at this car about 3 weeks ago up on west Colonial in a Winter Garden, FL. Everyone I work with that lives in the area keeps telling me there's a Delorean for sale there.

What a joke. I was actually mad that I wasted my time when I saw it. I talked to one of the people that worked there and he claimed it was a spare car from the Back to the Future that they got from Universal a Studios down here. What a joke... He also said that they have to drag it around the lot to move it because the wheels don't even turn; the rims are just bolted to the frame.

There might be $2000 worth of body panels, but that's it.. To me he hassle of transportation and disassembly alone would outweigh any potential financial gain.

I'm tempted to buy it for cheap and part it out. Unless they are very stubborn on their price.

Josh, I'll let you know if I buy it.

What about the interior? Is it intact or even present? Hard to tell from the pic. Bound to be a few quid's worth of parts in there.

If the doors open and close well I would be interested in the tub + doors.

Thanks!

The doors do look to have hinges and torsion bars too

Interested to see how this plays out. Wouldn't need the torsion bars, I think you could turn a reasonable profit on those by themselves!

All depends on what they are asking for the car and what I can get it for

Does it have any interior?

Yep! Good luck :thumbup2:

What's left of the interior is shot. The binnacle is destroyed, dash , knee pads, everything is just shot.

I'll hit you up about the tub and doors

The car has been on craigslist for about a month. Looks like they just reported the ad. Asking $7,000. What a joke... http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/4565445621.html

Also here's a pic I took of the interior:

$7k...I had heard $5k

Well I'll go and see what I can get it for. Cash talks and I know what the car was bought for when I knew it

Any have a list of the cars used in the movies. I thought there was some sort of vin list or estimation on the vins.

Oh, by no means is there any question as to whether this was a screen used vehicle. It for sure was not. They're just talking out of their asses at this place. I certainly would not pay $5,000 for that. I've picked up whole cars with Ken K. before for $5,000. At absolute most, I'd maybe pay $1,500 for it. To me it looked as though very little if anything from the interior was salvageable. The only potential useful things were the stainless panels and the tub; but tubs are really difficult to sell. That's just me though.

Best of luck! Just remember, whatever you do, do not act like you're buying a car. Remind them that this is NOT a car. This is just a bunch of parts.

So they didn't take my offer of $3k cash, I had started at $2k. Said they turned down an offer for $5k and they won't sell it for less than what it's on Craigslist. The guy at the dealership said it brings on customers and gets other stuff sold. So I told good luck and if he wants to sell it to contact me

I approached it as a pile of parts since I know it's too much work to rebuild. Guess I'll have to make money for my next Delorean the boring way.

Wish I had never ever sold 4875. If you come across a decent car for $5k let me know. I'd love one since all I get to do now is drool over my friends car.

Well thats too bad. Oh well!

If it makes you feel any better you did just save yourself alot of labor, stress and running around parting out a car by not getting it!

I've done it before so I'm no stranger to parting cars out or Deloreans for that matter.

Soon I'll be an owner again...

You should come to SEO Motorspots tomorrow in Melbourne for Eds open house. I know last month he had a complete car that they were looking to sell for around $5,000. Not sure if he's still got it but it might be worth looking into. If nothing else, it would be cool to hang and have another set of hands if folks have projects.

My friend that's in south FL bought that one I believe, I wish I had. I'd love to go but I'm helping someone pull the front fascia to do eyebrows and headlight buckets. I completely forgot about the open house. Of all open houses this one is probably the coolest.

If you're going to work on a DeLorean tomorrow, then you should both drive the car to Eds, and we can all work on the eyebrows at Eds shop!

I just got off the phone with the guy from Winter Garden not having looked the car up on this thread before hand.

Here's what I know:

Car was hanging in a casino for many years, rich guy in Windemere purchased the car for a lawn ornament. The city didn't approve of it and he didn't supply the paperwork necessary to leave it there and it was towed.

The impound lot where it's currently for sale told him he needed to supply a title to get the car back. He only had a bill of sale from the casino. Car sat there for state allotted 30-45 days, whatever it is and at that point the car becomes "abandoned."

Being the impound lot deals with "abandoned" cars daily, they easily acquired the title from the state.

Thus now it sits, priced at $4500, he stated he was offered $4k for it as his highest offer and he turned it down as he was busy that day. but now regrets it and would accept the next offer closest to it.

I debated getting it and throwing something under it to get it drivable, but after seeing the interior pics (which were conveniently not provided on Craigslist) I'm definitely going to pass.
