Hi all,

I recently bought a new ignition switch, item 106679 http://www.delorean.com/store/p-6848--ignition-switch.aspx
How do you install it?? It keeps popping out, also where do the wires go?? Mine did not come with a harness on the wires, does it come like that??
The original wires are, brown, green/white, white, and red/white The new wires are, brown, red/white, red/white again, and white. I have to take out the old wires from the originall harness and put in the new wires. Which exact wires do I put in where???

Thank you!!!

Call up DMCH and ask for James Espey. He explained it to me great at Lexington when I did the install during the show.

You basically take of the connect and add on the original one, adding each wire that matches (there should be 1 that does not match) and that goes in the last connector. As to how it is held on there, I think it is a tiny screw. He'll give you good instructions.

I messaged James, but he hasn't been online for 2 days.

Anyone else have this unit?

Why are people so shy about the phone.?

Anyway - -

COLOR CODE TABLE
OLD .......................... NEW
White/Red .................. White/Red (light gauge)
Brown .........................Brown
White...........................White
White/Green .................White/Orange (heavy gauge)
Purple ........................ Purple

As for the purple wire, you have a choice here:

1 - Carefully slit the old harness and extract the purple wire. Throw the rest away with the old switch. Add the purple wire to the new harness, tape or zip-tie it together.

2 – Remove or cut it off. This is the annoying key-reminder buzzer wire. If you leave it off the key buzzer will be silenced forever.

Here's how the switch goes. The small screw holds it in.

So I got the wiring together.

James recommended I shave the outer edge to get a good fit. I did that, but there is no difference. It still does not go in all the way to line up with the screw hole. All that playing/messing around the ignition switch came apart on me.

What do I do now??? :frown:
