You only have 30 minutes from the time you post to edit it. You will see the "edit post" button in the lower right corner next to the reply with quote button. Once you wait past 30 minutes it's permanent. ..well not quite.

You have a limited time to edit any post you make. Not sure how long it is but after that it's permanent.
I'm a member of a couple other forums that allow you to edit a post even Years later.
