It's a neat car, but I don't know what we'd call the doors as they seem to be a cross between gull-wing and Lambo scissor doors.

Butterfly doors if I'm not mistaken. Same as what's been on the last few McLarens and the Mercedes SLR.

Yep. Hinging on a-pillars is known as butterfly doors.

Fantastic car.
I wish I had one of those.

They are making publicity in the cinema's here in Belgium and the images are breath taking.

Hyundai has also played around with alternative doors like Gullwing and Butterfly. Though they have had concepts where the butterflies mount to the C-Pillar instead.

I still love Gullwing doors the best. Not merely out of bias, but practicality. They take up the least space of any door out there when opening and closing, and you can always gauge where you need to park in order to open them up.

So it has interesting doors.

Like the D and unlike the MBZ SLS the doors of the i-8 are long enough that your feet can get past the forward jamb of the door nicely.

Unlike both the D and the SLS the door sill of the i-8 is ridiculously high relative to the lower seat cushion level, especially toward the rear, right next to the seat. So while it's easy to swing your feet out, same as with a D, there is still a high sill next to the seat that you need to hoist yourself up and over to get out of the thing.

Am guessing that the odd high sill has to do with keeping the carbon fiber tub stiff or it's for side intrusion safety. Any way you cut it that's gonna get old fast for lots of i-8 owners - and their passengers - who aren't athletically-inclined.
