Interior Lower Door Panel Armrest To Rear Panel Alignment

Anyone else have this problem and able to solve it? My passenger side alignment is perfect....The door panel attaches to the door great so my only conclusion is that something is mis-aligned with the rear interior trim panel.....

Is there any play in that rear panel? Is it loose at all? Can you push it in and it aligns? What does the door look like from the outside? Is it closing tightly? Did I k enough questions? :facepalm:

You can try removing the outer weatherstrip in the lower rear corner and peeling back the carpet to make sure the panel is tight against the fiberglass, and check the panel alignment overall.

Be warned that the vinyl lip coming off that trim piece is very brittle, be VERY careful and take your time with it if you remove the trim piece itself.

Door closes perfect...The panel is not loose...Perhaps it is not locked in all the way...I'll have to mess with it...

On 4915 that trim piece with the cap on it has become loose and I'll have to go in there and replace it. Does anyone know if any of the vendors carry this part which doesn't need the cap? 16647, my later car doesn't have the caps so it may be VIN specific.

The caps are add-ons to keep your butt from wearing out the end of the trim section. You don't have to use them if you don't want to. You can carefully put a screw on the inside or outside to draw the trim piece in tight if you need/want to.

BTW, I did this same thing by putting a black screw on the outside hidden partially by the weatherstripping through and it drew the panel in tight which helped the misalignment alot; not perfect, but very close.
