While replacing Dist. cap this black weather proof connector popped up.Does any one know where it goes?

I see your advance solenoid is connected so my guess is that's some PO modification.

Could go to the thermister, sadly this is in the valley.

Yes

Does your engine idle at normal RPM?

That connector looks to new to be original.

It is a thermal sensor that sits in the water pipe under the intake:

Have not tried to start since connector popped up,will try today.

Is that sensor for "thermal throttle enrichment"? If so, you can run without it. It would only affect real cold engine starts.

D:05:02-D:05:03 of the WS manual shows the layout. Suppose to provide signal to the ecu for faster idle below 59deg.

If it's the idle ECU thermistor, and its disconnected, you'll get a 2300 RPM idle all the time. (Idle motor wide open).

Oh my....hope you have long, skinny arms, with really flexible wrists. Otherwise, it's a lot to do just to put that connector back on!

I sure hope it isn't it but not sure what else it could be. Like Bitsy said, it is awfully clean looking.
