Hello everyone, I've been a bit quiet this year because my life has taken a few twist and turns which have seen me extrmeely busy. These including finally buying a house and moving, accepting a promotion in my day job, coming to terms with the death of my beloved mother, clearing out and selling her house and getting ready for the imminent arrival of our first child (due two days ago!)
I really need to clear out some space in my workshop, so I'd like to offer for sale the donor components which allow a stock DeLorean engine to be converted to the 2.5 turbo. What I'm offering relates to engine internals, intake manifold, throttle & injector rails, and also OEM bellhousing and flywheel to suit EFI use. It does not include turbo(s) or the required plumbing.
The setup has been proven to hit 275hp in an Alpine GTA. It includes a custom cam profile developed specifically for that engine. As I write this I can't lay my hands on the dyno, so you'll just have to trust me :)
Some background:
The 91mm bore PRV appeared in the 2849cc/73mm stroke guise first in Carb and K-Jet forms.
A couple of years later saw the launch of the 200hp 2.5 turbo (@10psi though was mapped to 14). Also a 91mm bore, the stroke was shortened to 63mm allowing for stronger pistons with a thicker crown. (Recent communications uncovered by the RAOC show JZD was trying to buy the 2.5 for DMC). This was also the introduction of the even fire crankshaft. The engine is very torquey though top end is squeezed by the stock 2.5 cams which are very conservative and great improvements are gained with a simple regrind, which I'm offering as part of this.
The beauty of it all is that the crank, pistons and cams are a straight swap into any 91mm engine - including the stock DeLorean engine. The Z7U intake manifold is a direct bolt-on fit to the DeLorean heads too (a couple of these manifolds have crossed the atlantic already as an easy route to EFI conversion).
I have 2, possibly 3 sets available. All donor parts are sold in the condition in which they're removed from the donor engines.
The set will comprise:
matched set of 6 pistons & rods with new ring kits
custom reground cams from the same donor engine
63mm even fire crankshaft
timing sprockets appropriate to even fire also from the same engine
intake manifold with rising rate throttle body, throttle spool and injector rails
bellhousing & flywheel if required (the EFI options are limited to batch-fire & dizzy due to the crazy OEM trigger pattern)
I'll also include the cylinder heads complete with sodium cooled valves for the cost of shipping
The purpose of this post is to gauge interest really. I'm thinking of an all-in price of $3000 but will consider offers
I will of course offer my assistance where required on any other help required - eg sourcing an OEM turbo clutch
