When Ian and I went over my car we found one side marker light holder had deteriorated to almost nothing. Basically the complete bulb receptacle is gone. I am trying to figure out a fix for that. Any suggestions?

By a new one and the rubber seal behind it from DMCH. They are cheap and easy to replace.
If you're like me, you'll end up replacing all 4 because one new one and 3 old ones look funny.
I had the exact same problem, they looked like they'd been dredged out of the Atlantic after 20 years.
You can buy a new pigtail from dmc. $10 each. You need to snip off the old plug and solder the new one on.

+1 to all this. I had one that was completely destroyed... Snipped it off and soldered a new one on complete with heat shrink to finish it off.

Sounds like a plan. I will contact Julie and Dave and get those ordered up. Thanks everyone. Should be a simple fix. Will solder and heat shrink and do all four at once as recommended.

The rear side markers sockets are not usually as rotten as the fronts. For more surprises pull the tool kit out in the front luggage compartment and see if the bag is chewed up and if anything was living in there. Small rodents seem to like to nest in there, the heater box, and in the relay area. They urinate and chew up the vinyl and the wiring. While you are wiring up the side markers there is a mod to make them blink with the turn signals (if you want).
