Can the parking brake cable boot be replaced?

Is it possible to replace the boot on the parking brake cable? My cable is in good shape but while I have the car apart I would like to replace all of the original rubber. I don't see any way of taking the end off the brake cable and don't want to tear the boot trying to stretch it too much. Attached is a picture of the boot I am referring to.

It's not available as a separate part. I suppose you might find a substitute but I've never seen one.
