Fans

Can anyone tell me what temp the fans are supposed to kick on? I have yet to see my fans kick on at all, though I'm not sure I've got it up to temp yet......

Approximate temps:

On - 205 deg
Off - 195 deg

This is what I have my car set at.

The special T website claims they turn on at 207 deg and off at 196 deg.

Now with my car running for awhile, I'm pretty sure my oil temp gauge is not working since the temp never goes over 125 The oil temp sender is on the left front of the engine by the pulleys right? The sender by the oil filter is the oil pressure right? Do you know what the gauge wants to see? Some sort of resistance to ground?

There is no oil temp gauge, just an oil pressure gauge. The oil pressure sender is where you described. I dont know what the resistance values arre buy yes its just a variable resistor to ground. if you take off the wire from the sender and ground it the gauge will point straight up.

The coolant temp sender is on the passenger side head on the inside.

Is the engine temp gauge on the cluster run from the coolant temp sender?

I'm also trying to figure out what the sender is down by the belts on the drivers side. It has a spade with a white/red wire going to it.

yep thats it. There are two senders for oil pressure. the one by the filter shows the pressure on the gauge. The one on the drivers side lights up a light on the dash when the oil pressure is too high.

So I should probably let my car idle for 10-15 minutes and see if the fans kick on. If they don't, I could either be the coolant temp sensor, the gauge, or air in the coolant system right?

Also, what do I need to jumper in order to see if the fans actually work in the first place?

Sorry for being "that" guy regarding this stuff, as I am still waiting on my tech manuals to come in......

No need to apologize.

The temperature gauge and corresponding sensor have nothing to do with fan operation.

You need to be concerned with the otterstat on the LH cooling pipe. They fry often.

There are two spade terminals you can pull off and "jump." This should be facing down. Ensure yours is. With the jumper in place the fans will run with the ignition on.

The fans kicking in has nothing to do with those sensors. Check the otterstat as dave mentioned. It is a heat activated switch so it completes the circuit within the threshold indicated earlier. The fans should also kick in when the A/C is on to pull air thru the condenser. If jumping the leads at the otterstat doesnt turn on the fans, let us know and we can move down the circuit to find the issue.
