Alternatives to the Ford Probe Window Felt Mod?

I am sick and tired of Walmart velcro coming off in the hot sun on our window trim pieces. I replace it every summer and the same thing happens...it falls off and sticks to the glass. I know about the Ford Probe window seal modification, but I cannot find any of the Ford Probe seals. Does anyone else have a better way of doing this?

I am getting my windows tinted tomorrow and do not want this nasty adhesive from the velcro ruining the tint.

Velcro is fine but you CAN'T use the self-stick kind. Get the kind without any glue on it, and use 3M weatherstrip adhesive.

Considering that the rubber pieces the velcro sticks to are covered in adhesive that probably won't come off, do you happen to sell any of the rubber edging? If so, I will gladly buy new pieces that I know the weatherstrip adhesive will stick to. Thanks, Dave!

Its made of metal, not rubber.

Are you putting velcro over the outer seal?

Get some good adhesive remover and it will come off. 3M adhesive remover, acetone, laquer thinner etc. We do sell that as a new part as well, with the fur already on it, but they are pretty fragile at this point.

I'm pretty sure that when I did mine, I just get a piece of normal felt, cut to slightly wider than the rubber pieces and then folded over it and tucked into the groove and then pushed onto the door piece. The felt is effectively held captive by the rubber piece without any adhesives necessary, and it was dirt cheap to buy a scrap piece of felt (I ended up using a piece of dark brown because they didn't have any black scraps) from the fabric store.

I went to two ford probe message boards and posted a WTB post in their for sale forum. Ended up with two sets off of cars being parted out. Works great, would never go back to messing with felt again.

What is the actual part number for the Ford Probe seal and from what model year(s)? Is the "How To" still available?

I think it is a great solution/modification. I've got some pictures of my install. I used pop-rivits to attach them to the black bracket.
