My car started fine the other day now it wont start at all. I dont even smell gas in the engine compartment. Usually when i insert the key in the ignition to start the car I hear a humming noise in the console. I am not hearing that now. Could that be my problem? I checked my fuses but I am not sure which relay to check. I had my fuel pump, boot, etc replaced a few years ago. Is my car not starting because I dont hear the humming noise in my console? What should I check for?

Thanks in advance!

Check this thread out (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?962-No-Start&highlight=Jump+relay). Try jumping the rpm relay and see if you have pressure at mixture plate, under the air filter box in front of the fuel distributor. Jumping the rpm relay should make the pump run for you, if it does not check out the inertia switch.

Also check the connector in the wiring to the pump if it has not been replaced while you were doing your repairs.

BTW: The accumulator doesn't "hum", it may make a kind of clunking sounds, but usually is silent.
The pump and the FV however do hum depending on the moment.

If your fuel pump did not run with the RPM relay installed and it ran with the jumper then you probably have lost the ignition wiring since that is needed to run the RPM relay.

Most common problems with the ignition are those wires on the resistor block may have bad connections or fallen off. Check those.
