Power antenna wire

I am removing the twisted wire with tape holding them from my radio connector and crimping butt connectors and solder with heat shrink. I'm surprised my radio never had intermittents.

Anyway, I see the red wire going to the power antenna relay is connected to the always hot purple wire. Was this a mistake or should it be wired that way?

I think the power antenna does need power all the time. That way when you turn your key off, the antenna will retract.
