hi,
i was searching on ebay for a cheap buzzer/chimer relay module to act as a light warning buzzer (i do have the habit of forgetting) when i stumbled across this Saab part:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MG-MGB-SEAT-BELT-BUZZER-CHIME-RELAY-/121386894089?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c43390309&vxp=mtr
which looks surprisingly similar to the one that should be in my DeLorean (but isn't). Can anybody please check/confirm ?
thanks.31361

Rob, That looks exactly like the one I removed from my car.

Thanks! We just might have sourced a compatible replacement part!

There's a thread here that you can wire in one from a Cadillac that's not annoying and more modern sounding.

I've set my mind on a $10 Volvo chimer with a standard relay socket to be mounted in the relay compartment instead, but i am still investigating. All the wires are there, easily accessible for me and sufficient for a headlight chimer.

I've done this upgrade and love it. It took a while to get the seatbelt light and warning buzzer to work in conjunction, but I got out worked out with an extra relay. I also included a switch to disable the buzzer during parades and the like.

IIRC The seat belt stock signal was the opposite of what the Caddy wanted. Without looking at the wiring diagram it was something like the seat belt as stock just connecting to ground, but the caddy Chimer wanting a 12v. Then the wiring to the seat belt light also needed some change. It was a while ago but I ran a dedicated line to that bulb so that I could control the ground side.
Or you could install an automatic headlight module and never worry about leaving them on (or turning them on for that matter!)
I have this unit installed on my car; works amazing. Great product for the price.

The Caddy chimer also has an input for headlights on & ignition off. I hooked my headlights up (after fitting a headlight switch relay) and it has saved my battery a few times.

I did a mod nearly 10 years ago now that switches the headlights with the ignition so that I wouldn't forget to turn them off when I get out of the car (my buzzer never worked). It's not a very complex mod. I posted it here a while back, but I can't seem to find it, but I did find my old post to DMCNews that outlines the process:

My mod's a bit simpler than the box you link to -- in effect, my lights are always on, while the box you have turns them on only in the dark and when the wipers are on.
