Brake/clutch fluid tester

Flushing-renewing the brake and clutch fluid every 2 years is recommended.

Has anybody used one of these on any of their vehicles?

If so, recommended? Guessing it will help verify that the fluid is becoming (or is) compromised, encouraging regular fluid changes with data.


The LED lights will indicate the percentage of water in the brake fluid:
Green: None
Green/Yellow: Less than 1%
Green /Yellow/Yellow: Approx. 2%
Green/Yellow/Yellow/Red: Approx. 3% (Time to change brake fluid.)
Green/Yellow/Yellow/Red/Red: Approx. 4% (Change brake fluid immediately!)

I wonder how well that will work. Since the fluid doesn't exactly circulate in the system, you can have LOTS of water in the calipers and non in the reservoir. OR vice versa given that the DeLorean reservoir has an open vent and is outdoors.

You can also buy test strips to test the brake fluid. Not necessary. After 2 years just change it. If it looks dark and thick change it. If you don't know when it was last changed, change it. We are not talking about a great expense here. Same goes for the Anti-Freeze. After 5 years flush it out and refill with fresh. Tools like this are more meant as sales tools to convince a customer to agree to a service that they don't understand.
